Heritage discoveries
History, archaeology and the Middle Ages
Step back in time for a week... Stop off at the Château de Calmont d'Olt to experience the siege of a fortified castle, where Bombardes, Pierriéres, Couillard and the wooden Fortin await you, along with a knight's diploma. You will then visit the medieval Eden of Le Colombier, with its garden and animals (bears, lions, wolves, etc.).
Even further back in time, you'll learn how to make pottery, and you'll discover the dolmens of the Causse thanks to speakers from the Montrozier Archaeological Museum.
In the centre, Les Enluminées will take you through some fascinating workshops (calligraphy, illumination, dances, the scent workshop, ciergerie, leatherwork).
Finally, you can end the tour with a jewel of Romanesque art, the village of Conques and its abbey church (a major architectural heritage monument on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, the abbey church at Conques boasts an incomparable treasure trove of Romanesque sculptures (tympanum of the Last Judgement, historiated capitals) that magnify the stained glass windows by Pierre Soulages.
