Dates to remember:
Traditional markets in Espalion on Tuesday and Friday mornings
Transhumance (Sunday closest to 25 May): Cows go up to the Aubrac plateau. Local food and entertainment throughout the day in the village of Aubrac. Presentation and parade of the herds before returning to the pastures.
Fête de la musique (June): many groups and different atmospheres in the streets of Espalion.
Fête de la Saint-Hilarian (June): 3 non-stop days of fun: funfair, ball, show, concert, meal, etc.
European Heritage Days: every year on the third weekend in September: discover Espalion's architectural, cultural and vernacular heritage.
International de pétanque (August): the best players in the world compete against each other over the course of a weekend, and you can watch a number of foreign teams.
Festival de Randonnée Plein Nature (July/August): on foot, by bike, on horseback or on a mountain scooter, come one, come all to discover Nord-Aveyron, its heritage and its riches.
Leisure activities in Espalion
The municipal swimming pool is open from June to September, and winter sports are available on the Aubrac (cross-country and downhill skiing).
Tennis courts (3 outdoor and 2 indoor), petanque and 8-pin bowling at the foirail near the river Lot, shaded by century-old plane trees, for those seeking a little coolness in summer.
