Saint-Chély-d'Aubrac, the hiking village

Nestling in the heart of the valley carved out by the river Boralde, Saint-Chély-d'Aubrac is the starting point and convergence point for several long-distance hiking trails on the road to Santiago de Compostela. Make the most of your stopover to visit the church and the Pilgrims' Bridge, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. As you stroll through the village streets, you'll see wash-houses and half-timbered houses dating from the 17th century.

Perched at an altitude of 1,300 metres at the heart of the Aubrac Regional Nature Park, of which it is the headquarters, the village of Aubrac is one of the most emblematic sites on the Aubrac plateau. Discover the remains of the ancient Dômerie d'Aubrac, a "hospital refuge" for pilgrims, visit the 12th-century church and enjoy a good aligot cheese in a buron. Laguiole, capital of Aubrac

Laguiole, the capital of the Aubrac plateau, has plenty to offer. Its artisan cutlers will open the doors of their workshops, where the famous bee knife was born. At the Jeune Montagne cheese dairy, you can take home fresh Aubrac Tome cheese. In the village's former presbytery, the Laguiole whisky distillery will show you how this local spirit is made, followed by a tasting in the former convent.

Nasbinals is a charming mid-mountain village in the Aubrac region of Lozère. Park beside the bronze cow known as "La Gaillarde" and admire the Auvergne Romanesque church of Sainte-Marie. Take the opportunity to stroll through the narrow streets lined with granite and basalt houses.

The 35km Lakes Route links the Col de Bonnecombe to the village of Nasbinals. This tourist route leads to the Déroc waterfall and the Pont des Nègres, one of the sights of Aubrac. There are also four glacial lakes to discover: Lac des Salhiens, Lac de Souveyrols, Lac de Saint-Andéol and Lac de Born.
